That’s Not My Neighbor: All Doppelgangers casts players into a tense, unsettling scenario set in the aftermath of a covert government experiment gone awry. Originating from the Trojan Horse Project in 1945, designed to create perfect infiltrators using Doppelgangers, the plan spirals out of control as these entities breach containment and blend into the general population. Armed with abilities to mimic human traits and falsify credentials, these Doppelgangers prove difficult to command and eventually overrun civilian areas. The game begins as the newly founded Department of Doppelganger Detection (D.D.D.) recruits players to identify and capture these elusive beings amidst a growing societal panic.
Nightmare Mode introduces an intensified version of the game’s challenge, portraying what appears to be the player’s hallucinations driven by extreme stress. In this mode, the neighbors’ features become grotesquely monstrous, heightening the horror and difficulty of distinguishing the real from the imposters. Players must use traditional detection methods under these harrowing new conditions, where a mistake means instant death at the hands of a Doppelganger. This mode escalates the stakes and deepens the eerie atmosphere, pushing players to question what is real and what may be a figment of their overstrained mind.
